I have just received a message following submission of chapters 1-6 and it was a no, but I don’t think it was a ‘bad’ no, just that it doesn’t fit with his portfolio and isn’t quite strong enough. I’m happy with that, I only started writing in January, and I now have lots of feedback for a rewrite, so I’m not giving up.
I believe in my characters, their story, and the setting, I just need to practise how to get it from my head into someone else’s, that will take a little more time. I also know that I do have a clear ‘voice’ which has strengthened since I started Chapter One, so I will work on letting it show more.
The tasters will start appearing soon, once I have had a chance to do a little rewriting.
First rejection well done you have to gather a few. Don’t give up the story keep rewriting it will get there.
You are a proper writer now you have a rejection! Keep at it, the story is strong and the right agent will see the potential at the right time.
